Our History | Biography of DD Puri
About the DD Puri Foundation
We are a small family foundation based out of the Washington, D.C. area.
Since its founding in 1998, we have served communities in three regions
of the world—East Africa, South Asia Pacific—on a multitude of projects.
Founder Prem Puri has contributed the majority of funds for our work.
Our Mission
The DD Puri Foundation aims to assist individuals and organizations that already have the will and capacity
to assist themselves but need further support to succeed. The foundation works closely with those persons and groups to help them in achieving a self-defined success.
Guidelines Under Which We Operate
- The Foundation supports those individuals and organizations
that are willing and capable to support themselves and/or others.
- The Foundation assists those that cannot garner support from
other means.
- Members of the Foundation will maintain as personal
relationship as possible with those we work with.
- The Foundation must see every project through to its full
completion and success.

Prem Puri named the Foundation after his father, Devi Dayal. His wife Kamlesh is also active in the Foundation. This photo was taken at their 35th wedding anniversary.
